Why you'll like it

How it plays

The Crew is a cooperative trick-taking card game. If you've played Hearts or Spades, the basics will feel familiar: someone leads a card, everyone follows suit if they can, and the highest card of the led suit (or the highest rocket) wins the trick.

The twist is that you're all on the same team. Each mission gives the crew tasks, such as "Player A must win the trick containing the pink 3." The catch is that you can't freely talk about your hand. Each player gets one limited chance per mission to reveal a single card, so you spend the game reading what your teammates play.

The game is a campaign of 50 missions that get steadily harder, so you can play a few missions in 20 minutes or keep going for an evening. Failing a mission just means you try it again, which keeps the mood friendly.

Common questions

How many players does The Crew need?

It plays 2 to 5. It's best with 3 to 5; the 2-player version uses a special rule and works but is less elegant.

Is The Crew good for people who don't play card games?

Yes, as long as someone at the table can explain how tricks work. The early missions are very easy and teach the game as you go.

How long does a game last?

Each mission takes about 5 minutes, and a session of several missions usually runs about 20 minutes or longer if you keep going.
