Magic Keys

Arno Steinwender, Markus Slawitscheck · Happy Baobab / Game Factory · 2024

Children test real metal keys in a treasure chest lock — if the key fits, they earn gems. Each round involves push-your-luck choices about which keys to try. The physical key-and-lock manipulation develops fine motor skills while the gambling element teaches risk assessment.

Why you'll like it

How it plays

The Magic Keys is a children's game about opening a treasure chest. Several keys are spread out along a path, but only one of them opens the magical chest in the middle of the table.

Players roll dice to travel along the path and search for the right key. Rolling more often moves you faster and wins a bigger share of the treasure, but pushing your luck can backfire. A key that doesn't fit can still be useful later. The chest and sparkling gems make it a big hit with kids.
